Today’s excitement centered around what was in the refrigerator that smelled like it had never been refrigerated.
Life is decay.

I can remember running
for almost a day
after wounded eland
their baying, foaming mouths
the prayers of thanks
the sound of knife thru fur
the bleeding
the taste of fresh heart.
but I can’t remember,
no matter how hard I try,
what it was like
when I didn’t have a cell phone.

this day’s become all
speckled shade and
wind chimes and
clinking ice in sweaty glass
a wasp bumps against the screen
over
and over
and over
like something’s gonna change.
atheist,
she announces.
me,
the great inarticulator
I stumble over the words
I never needed to name it
who knows
what’s what
what whats
could be gas behind a curtain
making monkeys fly or...

tragic flaw n. A flaw in the character of the hero of a tragedy that brings the hero to ruin or sorrow.
What am I if not the hero of my own tragedy - a curious mixture of blood, bone, bravado, and tragic flaws.
Take this one for instance:
My willingness to accept any pill or capsule that is offered, whenever, from whomever. It’s impossible for me to turn one down. It’s almost as...

Don’t know why I haven’t felt like posting lately. I just haven’t. I haven’t felt like doing anything. All there is is work. Work.
I fear that there’s some sort of life-change going on - that it’s beyond my control. A tumor. A stage of Old that the whole world has conspired to hide from me.
I saw the Life of PI recently and could totally relate when Pi and...

NBC:
A 12-year-old girl who was abducted and beaten by men trying to force her into a marriage was found being guarded by three lions who apparently had chased off her captors, a policeman said Tuesday.
The girl, missing for a week, had been taken by seven men who wanted to force her to marry one of them, said Sgt. Wondimu Wedajo, speaking by telephone from the provincial capital of Bita Genet,...

The novelty of this “work” thing has definitely worn off. For a while there it was like a new adventure every day but now it just feels like my soul is slowly being crushed. Thoreau said that most men lead lives of quiet desperation. It’s true. I have become sad and desperate - coming to the surface once a day, gasping for air, only to slowly sink back down.

Every time I open my mailbox I think I’m going to find something that will change my life.
It didn’t happen today.
That’s 22,810 days in a row.

Been putting on a few pounds lately. Not that I’ve really changed the way I eat. It’s more like a slowing metabolism crashing into this fucking middle-class American lifestyle - don’t fucking get me started.
Anyway, I’ve decided to introduce a little more discipline into the way I eat - not realy a diet per se (though I call it The Dick Diet for lack of a better name) -...

no good reason for going to the War Memorial
brought back memories that had taken years to quiet
nightmares the last couple of nights
almost worse now - knowing that there was really no purpose
over 58,000 wasted lives splattered across the wall
that age-old blood sacrifice of young men to the Hubris of old men
Iraq
Afganistan
I have come to believe it will always be so
it is of...
